Making way for emergency vehicles

The Aurora Driver detects and makes room for emergency vehicles that are approaching from behind.

To deliver self-driving services at scale, the Aurora Driver needs to be able to detect and interact with emergency vehicles in a safe and compliant way. In this video, the Aurora Driver detects several vehicles approaching from behind using the shoulder of the road. Recognizing the flashing lights, the Aurora Driver correctly identifies them as emergency vehicles and carefully nudges to the left side of its lane to make room for them to pass by.
